Printer cartridges
Australians throw away more than 18 million cartridges each year, which
leads to 5,000 tonnes of non-biodegradable waste.
To solve this problem, Planet Ark and Close the Loop have launched a 'Cartridges
4 Planet Ark' program. Through this program, laser cartridges are sent
to the original equipment manufacturers for their remanufacturing or component
recovery programs. All types and brands of printer cartridges used in printers,
as well as photocopiers, multi-function centres and fax machines can be
recycled. Inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges, toner bottles, fuser and
drum units, fax rolls, printer heads, and waste hoppers/containers can
all be recycled.
Will SITA Environmental Solutions accept my printer cartridges?
SITA accepts printer cartridges, however at present we do not operate a
recycling program for these items. Please refer to the current pricing
guide for details, or contact Customer Service on 1300 651 116.
What else can I do with my printer cartridges?
You can drop off your used cartridges in specially marked boxes at participating
Australia Post, Dick Smith and Harvey Norman outlets. A full list of collection
outlets is provided at Recycling
Near You.
