Mattresses
Mattresses include sponge, foam, latex, inner spring or ensembles. Mattresses
require different handling methods to ordinary waste to ensure safe disposal.
Will WSN Environmental Solutions accept my mattresses?
Mattresses and ensemble bases are accepted for recycling at all WSN transfer
stations and landfills. Rather than sending these items to landfill, springs
are removed and recycled as scrap metal, foam is recycled and turned into
carpet underlay, and wooden frames are used in the production of biofuels.
There is a limit of one ensemble (mattress plus base) or two individual
mattresses per visit. Each individual mattress and ensemble base is charged
at $25 each, regardless of the size - a complete ensemble (mattress and
base together) will attract a charge of $50.
Mattresses and ensemble bases are charged
separately to all other waste. This may require customers to drop off these
items first and then return to the weighbridge to weigh any other waste.
Quantities in excess of one ensemble (mattress plus base) or two (2) individual
mattresses are only accepted at some WSN sites, and must be booked in at
least one working day prior to disposal. Bookings can be made by telephoning
1300 651 116 between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Please note that unused bookings do not carry forward - if you miss your
appointment, you will need to make a new booking.
Consult our latest price guide, or contact Customer Service on 1300 651

What else can I do with my mattresses?
If your mattress is in reasonable condition, contact a charity organisation
to see if they will collect it.
