The 2007-2008 WSN Annual Report is now available

2007 - 2008 was a successful year for WSN, characterised by strong profit
growth, a substantially improved safety record, continued excellent environmental
performance and building of new infrastructure for the future.
Performance highlights for the year include:
- Profit before tax of $25.1 million*, a 94% improvement on last year and 47% ahead of the Statement of Corporate Intent target.
- Reduced ecological footprint for fourth consecutive year.
- 33% of revenue from new business lines.
- 54% improvement in lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR).
- 86% energy use from renewable sources.
- 9% more landfill space saved through resource recovery.
This is the fourth year that WSN has incorporated sustainability indicators into the Annual Report, demonstrating a commitment to transparency regarding environmental, social and economic performance.

*Profit includes a one-off $13 million payment from Landcom as compensation for the early closure of the Jacks Gully putrescible waste landfill and one-off cost adjustments totalling $6.8 million. These two factors increased reported profit by $6.8 million net. After this adjustment, underlying profit was $18.3 million, up 23% on last year's underlying profit of $14.9 million.
